Fabulous Flash Award

Jon Strother, founding father of #FridayFlash, has made me blush with pride by bestowing the Fabulous Flash Award to me.

I’ve found it unbelievably hard to pick just four people out of a huge list of great flash writers, as I can see everyone else did who’s been spreading the award around so far!

Well, here we go, in no particular order:

Virginia Moffatt posts stories to her blog A Room of my Own
Her writing is always good, and she always gives the reader a clear and thoughtful picture of the human condition

Tony Noland can be found at Landless
He is a shameless genre-flitter who is not afraid to experiment

Sam Adamson is over at Future; Nostalgic
A sweet humour purveys most of his work – the subtle kind that keeps the smile on the reader’s face for a good while

Carrie Clevenger has her lair at Mindspeak
She takes you to dark, dark places, but oh so enchantingly so

Well, for the first time since I started participating in #FridayFlash in September 2009, I have been unable to post a story due to time constraints.

One reason for not #fridayflashing this week was that my employer sent me, kicking and screaming, on an ITIL Foundation V3 course where I had to learn all about the IT Service Lifecycle (yes, it is as boring as it sounds). That had an exam at the end of it and hence required me to spend time studying mind-numbing nomenclature rather than writing fun things. Grrrrrr. Still, I have my revenge: I doubt I passed this exam *blows raspberry at boss*

Mission Statement

AKA, the purpose of this blog.
At the moment, I am mostly going to be using this blog to record my offerings to the fortnightly Leeds Writers Meet-up Group. Eventually I hope to expand to include thoughts on Wing Chun Kung Fu, weight training, nutrition, bioscience, photography, SQL Server, C# and who knows what else.  In other words, assorted geekery, nerdery and kill skills.

I now inform my one reader (who isn’t following me yet but will do so pretty soon if he values his life – ref: kill skills) that I will hopefully be blogging again in the near future about talking to bears
